What is “IIT Google Desktop Gadget Developer Challenge II”?
It's a software competition for IIT students based on Google DesktopTM Gadget platform.
Can I take part in this competition?
If you are a student at Informatics Institute of Technology, Sri Lanka, the answer is yes!
What should the participants do?
All participants are expected to develop and submit a new Google Desktop Gadget using Google Desktop SDK.
Can I submit more than one entries?
Yes, you can. But keep in mind that the quality is better than the quantity. :)
Can we participate as a group?
Well, it's up to you to decide. It is encouraged that all participants submit their own entry and only one gift pack per wining entry is given.
I'm not a experienced gadget developer, am I still able to participate?
Yes indeed, looking forward to welcome new developers to the arena. :) Guidance and assistance will be provided.
Will all participants get help and guidance along with their development process?
Load of resources are waiting for you. These resources will assist you with the development process. There are many experienced developers waiting to help you at any time. You may also be able to contact GD Team and API GURUs via the Google Desktop Developer Group.
Why do we need to submit a proposal?
The proposal submissions allow verification and clarify your proposal while getting valuable feedback from the experienced developers. This will also assist to identify any problematic areas and possible over lapping.
How should I write my proposal?
We are not asking you to submit a research report. Just write a detailed summery about your gadget/submission and it's features etc.. on one side of a A4 paper.
Who can view my proposal? Will you publish it online?
Only the members of the organizing team are allowed to view the proposals. We are not publishing it online or share it with anyone else. So don't worry no one can copy your ideas.
